Preparation, not paint.
A finish looks expensive when the surface underneath was made right first. Flooring goes down flat because the subfloor was levelled. Paint looks even because the wall was filled, sanded and primed. Trim reads sharp because the mitres were cut to the actual angle of the wall, not to 45 degrees and hope.
It's slower on day one and invisible when it's done — which is exactly why it's the first thing skipped by anyone pricing to be cheapest.

Before you commit
Questions worth asking.

Furniture gets moved as part of the job. It helps if small items, breakables and anything sentimental are boxed up beforehand, but you don't need to empty the room yourself.
Yes — knockdown, orange peel and smooth finishes are all matchable. A repair is only successful when you can't find it afterwards, so the texture is tested on a board first and adjusted until it disappears into the wall.
Luxury vinyl plank and laminate are walkable immediately. Tile needs the thinset to cure and the grout to set — usually a day before light foot traffic and a couple more before heavy furniture goes back.
It should come off. Painting over wallpaper looks acceptable for about a year and then telegraphs every seam. Removal, skim and prime costs a little more once and saves doing the whole wall again later.
No. A single patched hole, one door rehung, or one room repainted is all fine. Plenty of customers start with a short list and come back for the bigger work once they've seen the standard.
