The person who quotes it is the person who builds it.

Johnson Home Improvement Services is one man, fifteen years of construction behind him, and a customer list that grew almost entirely by word of mouth. This page is who you're actually hiring.

In his own words

"I treat every project like I'm working on my own home — because that's the only way I'd want someone working on mine."

Donte spent over fifteen years in commercial and residential construction before starting this company — including work on the Opal Sands Resort in Clearwater Beach and Starbucks builds around the bay. Big jobs, big crews, and a lot of time watching how projects go right or wrong.

He then trained as an HVAC technician at Florida Career College and earned EPA Universal certification through the ESCO Institute, which is why air conditioning is handled here rather than handed off.

Why this company exists

He kept hearing the same story.

Homeowners weren't complaining about price. They were complaining that nobody called back. That three companies quoted and two never sent anything in writing. That the friendly guy who took the deposit was never seen again, and the crew who turned up had no idea what had been agreed.

Johnson Home Improvement Services was built to remove that entire category of problem. One person quotes the work, so nothing gets promised that can't be delivered. One person builds it, so nothing gets lost between the sale and the site. And one person answers the phone afterwards, which is the part most companies quietly hope you won't need.

It's a deliberately small operation. That's the point — it's what makes the standard possible to hold.

On paper

Qualified, insured, and honest about it.

Plenty of people in this trade are vague about credentials. Here is exactly what is held, and exactly where a licensed contractor is brought in instead.

  • Fully insured Florida LLC

Registered and insured, so your property and anyone working on it are covered. Certificates are available on request before work starts.

  • EPA Universal certification

Issued through the ESCO Institute. It's the certification legally required to handle and recover refrigerant across all air conditioning system types.

  • Fifteen-plus years on site

Commercial and residential, including the Opal Sands Resort and Starbucks builds — the kind of work where the finish is inspected rather than glanced at.

  • Permitted work, done properly

Where a job requires a permit, it runs as a subcontractor alongside a licensed contractor who pulls it and oversees the work. You're told which route your project takes at estimate stage — never halfway through.

How the work gets done

Four rules, no exceptions.

You always know what's happening next.

A written estimate before anything starts. A start date you can plan around. An update at the end of each day, including the days where something took longer than expected. Nobody has to chase for information here — that's the whole reason most customers stay.

If it's wrong, you hear it from us first

Rot behind the tile, a subfloor that won't hold, a system not worth repairing again — bad news gets delivered early, with options and a number, rather than discovered by you later.

Your home stays livable

Covered floors, contained dust, tools packed away and a site cleaned at the end of every working day.

The price doesn't move

Agreed in writing before work begins. It only changes if you change the scope, and then only with your say-so.

Finished means finished

A walkthrough together at the end. Anything that isn't right gets put right before the job is called done.

"He was honest, patient, and took the time to explain everything without ever making us feel rushed or pressured. His work was top-notch, but what really stood out was his character."
